One thing with a red is that it is bold. And while I love that fact it can sometimes overwhelm a room. So softening it is necessary.
One of the first things I did was add a curtain to soften the contrast between the white window and the wall. I purpose fully made it a-symmetrical because I new I was going to have a desk on one side of the wall. I already had the black and white striped dresser that looks great against the color. I added a neutral chair and felt like the wall still needed something So I added some art work to finish it up. I added sewing / craft desk but funny enough this area tends to get more use for something else. But I’ll tell you more about that next week. =)
I know red isn’t a popular color for studios right now, if I were following trends it would be a pastel or a gray of some kind. But I love red. I feel like its an energizing color that stimulates creativity for me. I think when it comes to your creative space you should do what feels good for you, not what is trendy or popular at the moment. At the end of the day a studio is your space. It must be a reflection of you and not what the world says you should be.
What color is your studio – or if you someday hope to have a studio, what color do you want it to be? Toss all trends and pinterest ideas out the window. What color do you love? What color do you want to surround yourself with? Leave a comment and let me know!

I too love the color red. My studio is beige/tan but I am doing all my accents in red. I got a teired wire basket and loaded it up with red fabric and red skeins of yarn. Red throw rugs on the floor, red cushions on the chairs and I am currently making a strip quilt top of all reds and whites to cut to fit my ironing board. A little more subtle but just as fun. Love your room.
