The heady smell of  this Crockpot Caramel Apple Crisp will fill your home with it’s autumnal aroma.

I love this recipe because it is a toss it in and forget about kind of dish and yet good enough for company or  a Sunday dinner.

The apples pictured in this post are all from my little Fuji apple tree in my back yard and it had a bumper crop this year.  I managed to rescue most of them from the birds and the deer who had discovered the delights of my apple tree too.

I promised you a Crockpot trick and here it is:

The first time I made this recipe in the Crockpot I used a sneaky little trick that you may grow to love and find useful in your slow-cooker repetoire.   It’s just this:  You can control the moisture in your Crockpot using a couple of paper towels under the lid.  That’s right, if you want to bake something in your Crockpot and have it be merely moist and not soggy, add 2-3 paper towels over the top of the pot and then place the lid on them.  They will soak up a good deal of the moisture.  If you wish you may change out the paper towels half-way through the cooking time to further control the moisture.  Easy, right?  And it’s worked for me many times.  Give it a try!

This recipe uses the Oatie Mix-up from my baking Outside the Box Mix Method.  Using my mixes I cut my kitchen time and save money significantly and still get  that homemade taste. (And I know what ingredients I’m putting in my family’s tummies.)  You can get the recipe for Oatie Mix-up on my website here.
