5 (more) Tips for a Tree Decorating Family Night

A few weeks ago I shared with you some tips for a Tree Decorating Family Night. Did you know that there are a lot more ideas on Nabisco’s Pinterest board here? They have recipes of all kinds of holiday goodness. After thinking about it I came up with a few more ideas for an awesome family tree night!

Formally invite the little tykes

Make it seem more like a party by inviting your kiddos with a formal invitation that you print up and put on their beds – it will add to the excitement. Evite your teens and tweens (or create an event on Facebook).

Prep the tree before the party.

Let’s be honest putting up the tree and adding lights is the boring part. Try to get the tree up while the kids are at school or doing homework so the party won’t lose momentum while you test light strands.

Consider having a “snacky” dinner.

Instead of a formal dinner, lay out a bunch of appetizers and snacky foods that the family can graze on while you work on the tree. That way you don’t have to stop the decorating for food. I like the recipe I made from one of Nabisco’s Pinterest Boards. It’s loaded with vegetables and tastes great. Plus my kids really enjoyed the the Wheat Thins Toasted Chips.

Have a Christmas Pajama Party .

I have little kids – and the excitement of Christmas can be hard to contain. I’ve learned a trick to help bedtime go smoother after a fun night – get them in their PJ’s early. That way when it’s time for bed there’s less to wrestle with to get the kids to settle for a long winter’s nap.

Have some presents already wrapped to go under the tree.

Part of the fun of the holidays is wondering what’s in a package. Why not torture your loved ones a little by having a couple of packages wrapped and ready to place under the tree? It will complete the look of your tree.

Be sure to check out Pintrest.com/Nabisco for more holiday recipes and ideas. And if that wasn’t reason enough – Nabisco is having a Sweepstakes. Visit Pinterest.com/Nabisco to find out how to enter for a chance to win $10,000! Now that will make your holidays brighter!
