How to Make a Baby T Shirt Tutorial (free pattern)
You can learn how to make a baby T-shirt with this easy to follow tutorial. The free pattern provided comes in sizes 3 months to 18 months.
Materials
1/2 yard cotton lycra stretch jersey knit. Other knits can be used, but be sure it has at least 50% stretch and good recovery.
Sewing Essentials (pins, scissors, etc.)
Cut
1 front on fold, 1 back on fold (use the dashed line for the back neck), 2 sleeves on fold, 1 neckband
Sew
Seam allowances are 1/2″.
1.
Sew shoulder seams together with right sides facing.
2.
Sew short end of neck band, right sides facing, to form a loop.
3.
Fold neck band in half (wrong sides facing) and mark the 1/4 points with pins.
4.
Mark the neckline of the tee into fourths, and pin the neckband to the neckline, right sides together.
5.
Stitch and press seam allowance to the shirt. You can also topstitch this seam if you like.
6.
Fold under and press 1″ of sleeve and bottom hem. Do not stitch yet.
7.
Sew sleeve to armscye, right sides together.
8.
Sew underarm and side seam.
9.
Stitch hems with a zigzag, double needle, or other stretch stitch.
