How to make a fleece vest

Today I want to show you another way you can turn the versatile Halloween Dress Up Vest into a completely new look by adding arms to the base pattern.  i love this monster vest idea... and there's a cute hat that can go with it!!! First, you will need the base vest pattern, available HERE .

The Fleece Fun Halloween Hat pack is such a versatile pattern, and I want to show you today how to turn the Halloween Dress Up Vest (link) into a new look. Hat Pack #3 features several fun monster designs, so I’ve added arms to the vest for even more monster fun! The arms would also coordinate perfectly with the bug hat that is part of Hat Pack #2.2015-05-2502-2This easy add on features arms that are sewn into the tummy panel. They are lightly stuffed to give them a 3D look, and the pattern is available in 2 sizes for the both the baby and child Halloween Dress Up Vest.

Materials:

1/2 yard of contrast fleece for tummy and arms

small amount of fiber fill batting

Sewing Essentials (pins, scissors, etc.)

Tutorial:

Prepare arms by cutting 2 mirror images of the number of arms you would like (I chose to do 4). With wrong sides together, sew along the two curved edges. Clip the curves, and turn right side out. To give the arms more dimension, lightly stuff with fibre fill batting.

Cut two mirror images of the tummy panel. With wrong side of tummy panel facing right side of front, pin the panel in place 1″ away from the front center edge. Place it so that there is equal amounts of space below and above the tummy piece and that both sides match.

Pin the raw edges of the arms under the sides of the tummy panel as shown.

Stitch around all the edges with a straight stitch or zigzag.
