Doll Basic Pants Pattern Tutorial

Step 1 – Assemble the pattern and cut out pieces

You can find instructions on how to assemble the pattern here.
You will be cutting two of the pattern  – so on folded cloth cut out the pattern.
Tip:  It’s really easy to make multiple pants at the same time.  So cut out all the pants at once – you’ll save time.

Step 2 – Pin and sew each pant leg

Taking each piece you just cut fold right sides together and pin up pant leg to the point of where it begins to curve.  Sew each piece using a .25 inch seam.

Step 3 – Pin pants together and sew

Turn one pant leg right side out and stuff down into inside out pant leg.  Line up seams and pin together.  Sew.  Sew additional reinforcement in crotch area if desired.

Step 4 – Thread elastic and finish

Turn the waistband down .5 inches. Pin.  Using a medium zigzag sew along edge of waist starting at a seam and stopping 1 inch short of completing the seam.

Using a safety pin pinned on one end of the elastic – thread the elastic through the waistband (taking care to keep the other end exposed).  Sew elastic Ends together.  Sew opening closed.  Trim thread and turn right side out Voila

I am a little confused… The pdf file is four pages long, the pattern itself is only 2 pages. If you aren’t able to download try clearing your internet cache or a different browser. If you are still having difficulty let me know. =)

I have been trying to find the patten for the coat and hat in this picture. The fleece matches this pant pattern. Does anyone know where I can find these patterns (or the actual doll clothes)?

Made some fleece doll PJ bottoms and cotton ones using the pattern above – thanks so much. Very easy to follow – thanks for the video too – it really helped as I am not a stitcher/sew-er! Photos and link back to here on my blog post – http://colourandink.blogspot.ie/2013/03/pjs-to-fit-american-girl-doll-or-any-18.html

Thank you for helping me be the ‘hit grandma’ of the year! My two grand-daughters Natatlie, 7 and Anna 4, are ready to learn to sew! We will start with the pants…I’ll need help with the top shown on the pattern photo…I will check out your web-page…THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO TO HELP those of us out here that can not spend $22.00 plus for a pattern at the store. Teaching our children to be careful with a dollar bill and mindful to share our talents and time with others is PRICELESS! Grandma Debora
