Hi, Vicky here 🙂 I blog over at vickymyerscreations, sharing my creative journey.

I love this easy felt sewing project perfect for beginners. This handmade matching game is perfect for entertaining little kids. Love this diy idea. Felt sewing for kids. Child memory game tutorial.

I love sewing and upcycling so you often find me refashioning former clothes into new creations for my young children, the household or myself. To day I’m sharing this child memory game tutoiral.

I am loving this game – many happy hours spent playing memory.

Create your own with bright coloured fabrics and different shapes. Help children learn their colours and shapes, as well as enjoying developing their concentration by playing memory games.

You will need:

  • 20 8cm squares of felt – to cut from A4 sheets you will need 8 sheets
  • 10 different coloured fabrics (I used fabric scraps)
  • interfacing
  • scissors or rotary cutter

To make:

Cut out 20 8cm squares from your felt.

Iron interfacing to your cotton fabrics

Cut out a variety of shapes, 2 of each: square, rectangle, circle, triangle, diamond, octagon, pentagon, heart, hexagon TIP: keep the width of your shapes 5 cms to keep them in proportion to each other.

Pin your ten pairs of shapes centrally to pieces of felt.

Sew carefully with a 1 mm seam allowance.

Layer this piece of felt (with cotton fabric shape) on top of second felt square. Sew around the square with a 1 mm seam allowance.

One felt child memory game, with lots of possibilities for learning colours, shapes, concentrating – perfect for young children.

I’ve had great fun creating this child memory game, which is being given to my sons nursery for their Christmas present. Thanks for hosting Angel.
