A great purse can take an outfit from boring to fantastic. I designed this purse for a date night out with my husband, but its classy look makes it appropriate for all occasions: from a shopping trip with the girls to a formal dinner.

I used a scrap of vegan (faux) leather that I had left over from another project. Of course, you can always use real leather. A great source of both real and faux leather is upcycling worn out/dated jackets from your own closet or the thrift store.

The star of this clutch is the quilting. This look is on trend for fall/winter and also gives the clutch stiffness and support. The clutch is fully lined and includes a wrist strap sewn onto a D ring.

I used a fun gold decorative zipper for the top opening. There are so many fun metallic zippers available now. I like the look of the black/gold, but there are so many other colourful leathers out there that would be perfect for this project.
