I love red. I am a red type person. I’m not crazy – I’m not going to paint an entire room red. But I did want it for an accent color. I picked two shades I liked, painted them on a wall and decided on a color, easy. Now picking a neutral that’s where it got really hard. I wanted to brighten the room so I wanted it lighter, but I also wanted it to contrast with the white trim enough. I didn’t want it to have a green undertone, but if it had too much yellow then it might be too golden. I must have painted at least five different neutral shades on the wall and couldn’t seem to find what I was looking for. Part of my problem was the rest of the green room was tinting any color I had up on the wall. Finally I brought in my mom, who is a writer, painter and all around smart lady. She helped narrow down to a color neutral color family I liked and then she brought in a white light to help me see the true color on the wall. Now I’ve got my colors picked out just in time for the paint sale! But how am I going to get this room painted my husband will be out of town…..hmmm more on that next week.
