Have you ever had a sewing pattern you love, but feels hidden in your shop? Or wondered if there was a way to earn from your work without launching a whole new collection? I’m thrilled to introduce a new opportunity for independent designers to showcase their work and earn better, with no extra fuss: the Guest Designer Spotlight at the Maker’s Studio.

What Is the Maker’s Studio?

The Maker’s Studio is a curated, ad‑free sewing membership where makers access high‑quality digital patterns and tutorials in one organized, clutter‑free space. Think Netflix for sewing patterns: members can see everything available, download what they love, and enjoy it with zero ads, zip‑file chaos, or repeated opt‑ins. It launched earlier this year, and membership has grown fast—makers appreciate the simplicity and beauty of design, and designers love the focused audience.

Why We Created the Guest Designer Spotlight

When we launched the Studio, our goal was clear: provide the best experience for sewists and opportunities for designers. But after months of running solo, it became obvious: the Studio could be a bridge to a larger creative ecosystem. Many pattern designers have a well‑developed audience and high‑quality patterns that deserve more visibility. We wanted to connect that creative spirit with our engaged makers—allowing designers to earn more while getting featured in a focused, curated platform.

Enter the Guest Designer Spotlight. It’s simple: designers share an existing pattern, we feature it inside the Studio for ninety days, and they earn a flat fee for its appearance. No strings, no exclusivity, just real support and shared value.

Why This Is a Win‑Win

For Designers:

  • New audience exposure: The Studio brings together a community of sewists actively seeking quality patterns—many of them are new makers who aren’t already following your brand.
  • Passive revenue: You earn from a pattern you’ve already created—no need to launch or design something fresh.
  • Professional presentation: Your pattern features a designer spotlight with your photo, bio, and shop link, bolstering trust and familiarity.
  • Full ownership: You keep all rights. Sell it on Etsy, your site, or other channels during or after the spotlight window.
  • No tech stress: Send the files and images, and we handle formatting, uploading, and promotion.

For Maker’s Studio:

  • Fresh rotating pattern library: Our members see new content regularly, which keeps the experience exciting and dynamic.
  • High-quality content: Guest patterns expand our catalog with diverse styles, grading, and presentation.
  • Stronger community ties: Featuring designers enhances credibility and encourages collaboration.

Here’s Exactly How It Works

  1. Apply or reach out with a pattern you’d like featured. Include how many sizes the pattern is, a summary of it plus one or two promotional images, and let us know what files are included with it (i.e. – a video or projector/SVG files).
  2. We review it and confirm.
  3. You receive a flat fee for your 90‑day slot.
  4. We prepare it inside the Studio, adding your name, shop link, photo, and bio.
  5. Member interest grows—your pattern is part of a curated, ad-free experience.
  6. After 90 days, the pattern is removed from the Studio. You keep all rights and continue selling.
  7. Members who love it can find it via your shop link or your site.

What Makes a Strong Guest Sample?

1. Thoughtful grading

Multiple sizes (e.g., baby to adult or XS–3XL) include a broader user base and higher appeal. That said, one‑size or limited‑size patterns (like quilt blocks or bags) still shine if presented clearly and well formatted.

2. Quality presentation

Your pattern files should include step‑by‑step instructions and clearly labeled pattern pieces. A layer‑enabled PDF for size selection is always appreciated, though not required. The goal: deliver a seamless experience to the maker.

3. Bonus—video tutorial

Already recorded a walkthrough? Send it along! It helps both our members and speeds setup on our end, making your pattern more likely to be featured sooner.

FAQ – Quick Answers

  • Do I lose rights to my work?
No! You retain full ownership and copyright.
  • Can I still sell it during the feature?
Absolutely. The 90‑day spotlight isn’t exclusive. You keep selling anywhere at any time.
  • What if I don’t have video?
No problem. Video is optional—just a nice perk when available.
  • How do I get the files to you?
Submit via Google Drive, Dropbox, or email—whichever’s most convenient.
  • How do I get paid?
Once you submit everything, I’ll handle the rest. You get paid within a week via PayPal, bank transfer, or your preferred platform.

How to Get Started

  1. Check designer eligibility: grading, pattern type, optional video.
  2. Submit patterns and promo.
  3. Receive confirmation, spotlight date, and be featured.
  4. Go about your normal work—earn from your existing pattern.

I’d love to feature your work, support your brand, and grow this community together.

Why We’re Different

Other platforms may require uploads across multiple sites, exclusive sales rights, or commission‑based revenue sharing. The Maker’s Studio approach is entirely different—it’s about curation, collaboration, and celebration. We believe designers succeed when they keep control, earn fairly, and share their voice in a quality space.
