Sewing Machine Mat

In my recent efforts to add some organization and decoration to my sewing space, I came up with this sewing machine mat. The mat includes a full length pincushion and scissor keeper. A sewing machine mat is useful in preventing vibrations and protecting your table (especially useful for dining table sewists!).

A confession: I am a disorganized sewist. I often spend more time looking for my tools and supplies as I do sewing! (Which is also why I created this organizer). I included a full length pincushion along the front of the mat. It is stuffed with sawdust and will keep your pins and needles sharp and rust free.

My most often misplaced sewing tool is my favourite thread snip scissors, so I attached them with a scissor keeper leash to the side of the mat. You could also use the leash to keep your seam ripper nearby. For a full step by step illustrated tutorial, click here !

this is a great idea. I desperately need to make this because the vibration of my machine is distracting.
