Sew each horn together.  For Baby hats use a .5 inch seam.  For children and adult hats use a .25 inch seam.  Sew two sides of the horn, leaving the straight side (bottom of horn) open for turning.

3 – Turn the horns

Trim with scissors close to the top point of the horn (this will give it a nice point then turned).  Invert the fabric by pushing it through right side out so you will have a nice point at the top of your horn.

4 – Place horns and make the hat

  1. SO I took this basic hat and made an acorn hat for my daughter’s halloween costume, she’s going to be Autumn. I just printed two of the patterns and only used about half of the length of the pattern to create the top, added a stuffed stem sewed in at the top. When I constructed it, I treated the acorn top part and the full hat as one piece of fabric, sewed it up and bam done. I also lined it with more brown. It turned out cute, I only wish I had put in a pipe cleaner in the stem so it would stand up better.
