You can make a fun, candy free Valentine with items you already have around your house! Plus it’s a great gift to give out that doesn’t need a lot of candy – and it’s a fun activity to keep kids happy on Valentines Day!
For this Project you will need:
Print outs of The coloring Pad Pages, The coloring pad and crayon toppers, and the Sand which bag topper (click below to get the .pdf) Note: I like to print the toppers out of card stock but this is optional. Print the coloring pad out of regular paper
Crayons or crayon shapes (I made shapes from a bunch of old broken crayons)
Stapler
Sandwich bags
Small 3 inch wide bag (available at craft stores, optional)
Paper cutter or scissors
Corner trimmer (optional)
Candy, confetti, ribbons (whatever you want to put in the bag or decorate with)
To see how to make the multi color heart crayons check out this post.
How to assemble the Kit:

Step 1
Gather your materials and print up the items you will need. Note: There are six items each on the pad and crayon topper page, and three items on the sandwich bag topper page.
Step 2
Cut the Coloring pad pages into quarters (notice that there are guides to help you with this). Make sure title page is on top, set aside.
Step 3
Cut out all of the Crayon, coloring pad, and sandwich bag toppers.
Step 4
Fold all the toppers in half. Round corners if desired.
Step 5
Place pad topper (the blue one) over the top of coloring pad so it’s “pinching it”.
Step 6
Staple through all the layers, stapling the topper on, and making the pad stay together.
Step 7
Place crayon shape or crayons in bag, and staple on topper with a single staple. (alt: Place strip of paper around crayons and tape in place if no bag)
Step 8
Place all items in Sandwich bag. Include anything else you may want in the bag. Staple on the topper, and label!
Additional Ideas:
I’ve kept the examples pretty plain jane, but you could jazz them up with ribbon, glitter, etc.
Make it a family assembly line. Putting these together is fairly simple, have your kids get in on the act by giving them a job to do. Turn on some good music, and make it a family activity!
You can keep it simple or add goodies to the bag, the choice is yours!
Please note that my printer is giving me fits so the samples look a little off, refer to the .pdf to see what they really look like.
