It all started with my first cape. It was inspired by red riding hood. With a dramatic hood and circular shape. This cape continues to be one of my popular ( and personal favorite).
I then came up with a cape that needed minimal to no sewing with a more simple hood and look to it. The no sew cape.
I got more feedback from my readers. And I got several requests for a full length cape that came together quickly. So I came up with the fast long cape. It could be made in under an hour and has an apothecary hood.
Then I came up with a cape with a lined hood and a dramatic sweep that had a more full body to it. The long hooded cloak.
This year’s offering is a cloak with a high low hem and a pixie style hood.
But do you know the amazing secret to these capes?
The hoods are interchangeable!
So let’s say you like the style of the Red Riding Hood Cape and the hood on the High low Cloak – you can mix and match to make the cape that you want. These wonderful adult size capes are perfect for adding that final touch to your costume. Plus there are comfortable and come together quickly. Capes are so universal that they can work for multiple costumes and a good investment for anyone’s costume box.
Have you made one of cape and tried swapping the hoods? What cape would you design? Let me know in the comments below and be sure to check out my latest pattern release – The high low cloak with a pixie hood here. Plus I just added a video tutorial to make it easier to put together!
