This Wonder Woman Costume for kids DIY is a fast sew – and you’re little warrior won’t freeze! With a few simple materials you can whip up this school friendly costume in no time!
Think the boy superheros have the best costumes?! Not any longer; this Wonder Woman inspired costume will make any girl happy!
I’ve included measurements for you to sew your own gathered knee length skirt in sizes 2t-8. The skirt itself can be sewn from either a woven or knit, and has a stretchy yoga style waistband cut from knit fabric.
You can use a store bought red tee for the top, or sew your own using the Gracious Threads Rainbow Tee as I did. The gold sparkly logo is cut from heat transfer vinyl (this can be purchased from most chain craft stores). You can use a cutting machine such as a Silhouette or Cricut, or just cut it out with scissors!
The headband and wrist bands are crafted with holographic gold paper. I would suggest using a gold glitter vinyl or craft foam for a more durable costume. The red stars are cut out of adhesive backed vinyl, or you can cut them out of vinyl or craft foam and glue them on.

Wonder Woman Costume for Kids DIY:
Sew
Top:
Cut out a Wonder Women decal out of the glitter heat transfer vinyl. You can use a cutting machine such as a Silhouette or Cricut or, since the design is simple, trace it out on the back of the vinyl and cut it out with scissors. Apply the vinyl with a hot iron as directed by the manufacturer.
If you are sewing your own shirt, assemble the shirt now. I used the Rainbow Tee by Gracious Threads; it is an easy sew with only 2 pattern pieces!
Skirt:
Sew the short ends of the waistband together, right sides facing.
Fold the waistband over so that long edges meet, with wrong sides facing.
Sew short ends of the skirt together, right sides facing.
Fold over 1″ of the bottom edge of the skirt to the wrong side. Press. Topstitch to hem.
Sew two rows of basting stitches at the top edge of the skirt to gather. Gather so it is the same width as the waistband.
Distribute gathers evenly and pin waistband to skirt, right sides facing.
Headband:
Cut out the headband piece using the provided template. Glue or stick on the red star.
Hot glue onto the hairband.
Wristbands:
If you are using a thinner material (like the holographic paper I used):
Cut out the rectangle using the template and apply a red star.
Cut a lengthwise slit in a toilet paper roll.
If you are using a thicker material (like vinyl or craft foam):
Cut out the rectangle using the template and apply a red star.
Apply adhesive velcro to the short edges to fit the child. You’ve completed the Wonder Woman Costume for Kids DIY.
