Basic Fleece Hat Variation – Bear Ears How To / Tutorial

Some times it’s two steps forward one step back.  I try to make things overly complicated, when it would just be better to keep it simple.  I learned this while working on the “Bear Ears” variation of my basic fleece hat.  I tried some basic applique which looked ok –  but not great.  So I tried making a hat with just the ears and no applique and it looks so cute ( and not like a 3rd grade craft project!).  So now after one  failed prototype is my basic bear ears how to.  All you’ll need is the basic hat pattern and the ears pattern.  Enjoy!

  1. Thank you so much for sharing your fleece hat patterns, I am now the favorite Aunt/Godmother/Friend and have been having a lot of fun! I did find that adding a gathering stitch on the top of the back portion of the ears (like the bear, frog, ect.) makes it easier to assemble the pieces together. Again, thank you for sharing.
