You can leave it just with the pinwheels or you can add the bunting that says “Happy 4th”.

For this Project you will need:

HTV in the colors you desire (I used Gold, white and blue)

Glue Gun and Glue Sticks

MDF Wreath ( like this one)

Gold Paint (like this one)

Foam Brush

Ribbon or Mini Pom Poms

Cricut Maker (optional if you want it to cut out your elements, I’m including a PDF so you can cut them out by hand if you want)

LightGrip Mat

Cricut EasyPress or Iron

Americana Decor DIY Pinwheel Wreath Tutorial:

Step 1 – Cut Out All the Elements From the Free Template

Download the free file. If you are cutting the elements by hand use the pdf pattern provided.

If you are using a Cricut Maker, cut the fabric to the size of the mat and upload the SVG file to Design Space.  Using the Rotary Blade cut out the fabric.

From each felt color cut out one pinwheel of each size, 3 stars, 1 large circle, 2 medium circles, and 2 small circles.

If you are adding HTV to your wreath cut it out at this time using the finepoint blade. I opted for HTV in white, gold and blue, but it’s completely up to you how you want to design your Fourth of July Wreath.

Weed the HTV and set aside.

Step 2 – Paint the Wreath

To give it time to dry, paint the patriotic wreath the desired color (for me it was gold) and set aside to dry.

Step 3- Add the HTV (If Desired)

To add interest to the patriotic pinwheels add the different HTV patterns to them.

For the triangle bunting, add the White triangles to the bunting first.

Next add the gold lettering.

Be sure to use baking parchment when you layer the vinyl to protect your EasyPress.

Step 4- Assemble the Pinwheels

You can either use one or two hexagons to make an Americana pinwheel.

For a patriotic pinwheel made with two hexagons do the following.

Line up the two hexagons and place them right on top of each other, right sides facing out. The side you want to be the interior facing up towards you.

Then glue the centers together. Just a dot or two of glue in the middle will work.

Next place a dot of glue between the two fabrics at the point of the long side of the triangle ( the smallest angle), repeat five times for each triangle.

Once that is all glued, It’s time to glue it to the center. Taking those points you just glued, fold them to the center and glue them to the center.

This will make the pin wheel shape.

Glue a circle and a star to the center if desired.

Then glue down the points and place a circle and a star on top.  Or you can also not add the circle and star to the center at all – your Americana project your design it!

Step 5 – Bring all the Americana Decor Together

For the bunting, glue the triangles along the ribbon/ pom poms.

Wrap the ribbon around the back and use a small felt circle to finish the ribbon off nicely (this also make a nice little buffer between the door and your wreath).

Glue the rest of the patriotic pinwheels down.  You now just completed the Americana Decor DIY Patriotic Pinwheel Wreath
