You’re little one will look good enough to eat with this easy donut costume DIY. With a few simple and inexpensive materials you can make this costume. The free pattern makes it was to whip up this costume in under an hour. The pattern measures approximately 20″ across and is drafted to fit toddlers who wear size 2T-4T, but it can easily be enlarged with a photocopier or printer for larger children or adults.
Materials Needed for Donut Costume DIY:
1 yard tan fleece
1/2 yard dark brown fleece
1/2 yard batting (I used 8 oz high loft polyester batting)
scraps of fleece of various colors for the sprinkles
fabric glue (optional)
Donut Costume DIY Tutorial:
Step 1 – Cut out the following
out of tan fleece:
around 20 ‘sprinkles’ of various colours
Glue batting to the wrong side of one of the ‘fronts’. Set aside.
Center ‘icing’ on the right side of the remaining ‘front’.
Clip two fronts together, with batting sandwiched in between.
Gently push batting slightly inside the seam line so that none sticks out. Stitch around outside and inside edges.
Pin back to the donut and stitch in place.
Additional ideas: Use glitter or spray glitter to add a little sparkle to your donut. Have multiple kiddos dress as donuts and help decorate to personalize each one!
