My Studio 5 Experience

A few years ago, before I was married and a mom I worked in television.  I would shoot, edit commercials and once in a while direct the live evening news at a small local station in Southern Utah. I then started my own video production  company.  Since then  I've become a mom , and I've been able to keep my skills sharp by doing the occasional small video project.  That's my resume behind the camera – however all of my on camera experience you can see in my video tutorials on this website.  That is if you can call shooting tutorials while your kids are napping on camera experience.
The nice thing about shooting and editing your own tutorials is that you can take your time, edit out the bad screw ups and if necessary re-shoot the entire thing.

This is why live TV is so dang scary.  If I stumble, stutter, sneeze – there is no going back or do over. So needless to say I was a little scared to  do live TV – I like the safety net of my editing.
The great crew at KSL Studio 5 put me at ease right from the start.  Everyone was friendly,  and willing to help.  Set up for the show and the show itself runs at a rapid pace. I can honestly say the hosts of Studio 5 Darin Adams and Brooke Walker are as friendly off camera as they on.  Each took a moment to say hi and introduce themselves even though they were busy prepping for the show.  The producers and crew were great at helping set up my items, getting things to display, and making sure I had everything I needed for my segment.

My six minute segment that I thought would feel like and eternity went by in a flash. I now have a few ideas on how to make a sewing segment better, and what I need to do to present things a little nicer.  Being on camera is one of those things it just takes time to get good at.  This first experience was good, but I think with a little more practice I'll  become better.  But for now I'm happy making my little videos while my kiddos are napping.
You can find the free  pattern  and tutorial I presented in the segment here.
