I have two little girls that a little less than a year ago fell in love with Disney’s Frozen. They have been informing me every day since then what they want to be for Halloween. Every. Single. Day. My eldest wants to be Elsa my middle child wants to be Anna. Honestly it’s really cute.
Personally I’m not a “I must sew everything from scratch” sewist. I’m perfectly happy making elements to enhance my kids store bought costume. In this case, it’s my little girl’s cape with a store bought dress. Hint: There could also be a matching hat in the works too!
We had some fun doing a little photo shoot in out neighborhood. My little girl was cute and insisted that she get to wear a little make up also (we have a rule no makeup unless it’s for Halloween or dance performance – so make up is pretty special).
I tried to capture the essence of Princess Anna’s cape. The small and big ric rac were a great (and easy) replacement to the pattern on her cape in teh film. I was also happy to find that a silver heart clasp is pretty common to find in the notions section.
One thing about the store bought dress is the hoop. I think it’s annoying and it ruins th line of the cape – I’m tempted to cut it out of the dress. I’ll see if my daugther really wants it – but personally I don’t like it.
I‘m happy with the finished result. It’s cute i, it’s warm and it’s obvious who she is. I think she likesd running around in her cape, until she got to hot. But knowing how the weather is here cooler temperatures are just around the corner.
