All seam allowances are 1/4″. Elastic casings and hem allowances are 3/4″. As you assemble the nightgown, finish all raw edges with a serger or zigzag stitch.
Sew sleeve to front at shoulder seam, right side together.
Sew other shoulder seam to back. Repeat with other sleeve. You now have a complete circle.
Fold neck edge to wrong side by 3/4″. Press.
Stitch 5/8″ away from folded edge, but leave a 1″ opening for inserting elastic.
Use a safety pin to insert the elastic in the casing.
Zigzag the ends of the elastic together.
Close casing by connecting previous stitching.
Repeat previous steps to create the elastic casings for the sleeve hems.
Pin front skirt panel to back skirt panel, right sides facing. Sew side seams.
Gather top edge to match bottom edge of bodice. Stitch skirt to bodice, right sides together.
To create the ruffle, stitch the 3 lengths of fabric together to form a loop.
Finish off the bottom edge, fold to the wrong side by 1/2″, press, and topstitch to hem.
Gather the top edge of the ruffle to match the bottom edge of the skirt.
Stitch right sides together.
