Pocket Tee Shirt for 18″ Doll Free Pattern

This cute Pocket Tee Shirt for 18″ Doll is a wonderful and versatile addition to your American Girl Doll’s wardrobe. With it’s fun mix and match style it’s a wardrobe staple you can make several of!
YOU WILL NEED:
- printed jersey knit with minimum 30% stretch
- contrast solid jersey knit with minimum 30% stretch
- 1/2″ fold over elastic trim or narrow double fold bias tape
- hook and loop tape such as Velcro
- Cut from the printed jersey knit:
- 2 backs (mirror images)
- 1 front on fold
- Cut from the solid jersey knit:
- 1 yoke on fold
- 1 pocket
- 2 sleeves (mirror images)

Pocket Tee Shirt for 18″ Doll Free Pattern Tutorial
Step 1 – Sew the Yoke and Add the Pocket
Seam allowances are 1/4″, hem allowances are 1/2″.
Sew yoke to front, right sides facing.
Press seam allowance up and topstitch if desired.
Press the top of the pocket of the Tee Shirt to the wrong side by 1/2″. Stitch in place.
Press remaining edges under by 1/4″. Stitch pocket in place using the placement marking on the yoke pattern piece.
Step 2 – Join Shoulder Seams and Finish Neckline
Stitch shoulder seams, right sides facing.
Apply fold over elastic or bias tape to neckline edge.
Step 3 – Sew and Hem the Pocket Tee Shirt Sleeves
Press sleeve hems to the wrong side by 1/2″. Stitch.
Stitch sleeves into armscyes, right sides facing.
Step 4 – Stitch Side Seams and Hem the Bottom
Sew underarm and side seams, right sides facing.
Press bottom edge of the Pocket Tee Shirt to the wrong side by 1/2″. Stitch.
Step 5 – Finish Back Opening with Velcro
Fold back raw edges to the wrong side by 1/2″.
Trim velcro so that it is 1/2″ wide. Stitch both sides of Velcro to the back edges.
